To look back at the first group of people to eat meat we have to back about 2.5 million years where there is evidence on fossils. Animals have been around a lot longer than humans so that means when people came around they automatically started hunting the animals and that started all of this. When they hunted for food that's when meat officially became part of a human’s diet and that's stuck with us for generations and generations. You fast forward many years later and things have changed. Instead of hunting and just getting food that way. Population have been growing so the normal process of hunt for food does not work as well as it did in the past. Now there are starting to be these animal farms that are being built to get more food for the people that demand to have chicken, beef, pork, etc. When, “The first meat factories started when colonials were packing large numbers of hogs by 1662.” People learned that they can trade meat for other valuables in started to become more like a business then a source of food. This is where the meat business started to rise and people wanted to grow the farms so they could make a lot more profit off of the animals.
The meat industry really did grow because the population grew so they needed to provide more meat in order to feed the people. Also as years passed meat became more accessible and was cheap to buy compared to some fruits and vegetables. So it became a popular item to have in meals for many families. But, there are also many cultures that have been vegetarians since they were created and they keep on the tradition even though meat has become such a popular food choice in meals today. Some of the cultures come from eastern religions like Hinduism, Brahmanism also Christianity has some vegetarians people in it. Even though there have been so many cultures that developed this vegetarian aspect to them, there have been many more than have meat as a part of everything.
