Companies that sell meat in their corporations spends large amounts of money in order for their advertisements to get to you. This mass marketing strategy is making people consume their products because we see those advertisements all the time until we give in. This means that they will make sure that their advertisements get to you every single time so they keep getting loyal customers that will keep buying from there often. Corporations like McDonald's advertise their product to the general population, but they don’t advertise the effects of their meat on the consumers health. One of these health effects on include hardened blood vessels (atherosclerosis). An additive found in processed meat called carnitine, is known to cause clogged arteries. This condition is more simply known as heart disease and it is the #1 killer in America. Eating meat is also directly connected to a shorter lifespan than those who eat little to no meat. Not to mention that it is a direct link to obesity, increases risk of type 2 diabetes and colorectal cancer. Since meat consumption is a direct link to obesity, no wonder we are ranked #2 as the most obese country in the world, right behind Mexico. Not only is the meat industry a threat to the environment, cruel to the animals, but also is a concern to consumers health.
